Casio SK 51

The Casio SK-51 iPad App is an all-in-one keyboard inspired by the legendary Casio SK-1 (and his brother the SK-5). It is an 8-bit lo-fi keyboard from the 80’s, with sampling features and onboard drum machine. Even though it was often referred to as the poor man’s sampler at the time, this keyboard has been used by many major artists such as Fatboy Slim, Portishead, Autechre and Nine Inch Nails!

Fingerlab brought back its particular vibe from the past. They recorded all the instruments and drums notes, one by one with a professional audio quality and even recreated the sampling features! A cool little touch is the inclusion of all the demo drums patterns from the original machine. In addition to that you also get the sounds from another classic Casio keyboard – the VL-Tone.

You don’t need to just produce vaporwave and lofi chill music to find uses for this app. With its nice and true to life interface, many instruments (Trumpet, Flute, Piano, Vibraphone, …), 4 sampling slot and many drums patterns and sounds, the Casio SK-51 iPad App is versatile and fun music tool. Simply record your voice, start the drum box, play a chord and you are off and running!
