Junk Guitar is a free electric guitar sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt, released by Fujiya Instruments. You will need the full version of Kontakt to run the library, but the developer was so kind to also supply the samples in WAV format, so you can map it to the sampler of your choice.
Don’t let the name fool you, this virtual guitar instrument actually sounds quite good it was multi-sampled to sound natural. As with any guitar, you should run it through an amp plugin to get a realistic guitar tone. Most DAWs have their own amp sims, but there are also loags of free amps in plugin form.
Junk Guitar features three different playing modes (Mono, Poly, and Chord) with up/down stroke variations and five different chord types (Major, Minor, 7th, Sus4, and Ghost). These can be accessed by pressing the mode buttons on the instrument panel or via MIDI keyswitches. With a bit of practice and attention to detail, it’s relatively easy to create natural sounding guitar performances with Junk Guitar.
