Reverb.com just dropped the debut sample pack in their new Studio Sampled Sounds drum series. Volume 1 has authentic Motown drum kit vibes and features drum hits, loops and grooves, in mono and stereo formats! The pack is produced by Ian Ballard at Ohm Studios and will help you trick out any production with high-quality drum sounds to create that timeless Motown flavor on any track.
This Motown drum kit recreates the famous Motown Sound, inspired by Benny Benjamin’s solid, 4-beat grooves, Uriel Jones, “Pistol” Allen, James Gadson, and Earl Palmer , Jack Ashford’s energetic tambourine style. The drum sounds featured in this first volume can be heard on famous recordings from “Heat Wave” by Martha and the Vandellas, “Shotgun” by Junior Walker, to “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye, “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5, and many more.
The kits of Motown were always a mix of various brands, so a mixture of Gretsch, Tama and vintage Ludwig drums are carefully tuned and muffled to get the sounds needed in this collection. Cymbals are vintage and modern Zildjian A’s and K’s. Featuring Snare, Kick, Tom, Cymbal and Tambourine one-hits, Stereo and Mono file, Dozens of groove loops and drum fills from Motown hits, Groove loops with and without tambourine parts, all emulated to be historically accurate.
Curious, head over to their site to download this Motown Drum Kit as long as it is free!
